WhyNotReply ("we", "our", "the app") is an iOS app that analyzes your resume against a job description using AI, and returns a match score, missing keywords, and suggested fixes. This page explains what information we collect through the app and this website, and how we use it.
This is an early, plain-language version of our policy for our pre-launch website. We'll expand it with any additional detail required before the app is submitted for App Store review.
Information we collect
The app does not require you to create an account, and does not ask for your name, email, or any contact details to function.
- Resume content. When you run an analysis, the text of your resume is sent to our backend so it can be analyzed by our AI processing provider. This is required for the app's core feature to work.
- Anonymous device identifier. The app generates a random identifier on install, stored only in your device's Keychain. It is not linked to your name or Apple ID, and it does not sync to iCloud or any other device.
- Photo library access. If you import a resume as a photo, iOS asks your permission to access your photo library. We only read the specific image you select.
Your analysis history is stored locally on your device. We do not operate a server-side account or database of your resumes tied to your identity.
How we use this information
We use the information above solely to provide the app's analysis feature: generating your match score, identifying missing keywords, and producing suggested rewrites. We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.
AI processing
Resume analysis is performed by a third-party AI processing provider on our behalf. We are still finalizing the specifics of that provider's data-retention terms as we prepare for launch, and we will update this section with those details before the app becomes publicly available.
This website
This marketing website does not currently use analytics, advertising trackers, or cookies for tracking purposes. It loads fonts from Google Fonts, which may log basic request data (such as your IP address) as part of serving those files — see Google's privacy policy for details.
Children's privacy
WhyNotReply is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
Your choices
You can delete your locally stored analysis history at any time from the app's History screen. Because the app doesn't maintain a server-side account, deleting the app or clearing its history removes the data associated with your device.
Data security
Data sent between the app and our backend is encrypted in transit (HTTPS).
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app develops, especially around its App Store launch. We'll update the "last updated" date above when we do.
